Aiming For a 6th Straight Win

Nuggets Looking To Close Out Winning Home Stand Following Blowout of Knicks

The Nuggets will be be vying for a perfect early season home stand on Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center. Standing in their way will be the Chicago Bulls, who have had their struggles so far this season, limping out of the gate to a pale 2-7 record. The Nuggets were bolstered with a heavy dose of payback satisfaction when they trampled the New York Knicks in their biggest win of the season, 110-83. Following the blowout win, the atmosphere was ripe with confidence inside the Nuggets locker room. In what was a fairly memorable post game, an over the average number of Nuggets gladly gave interviews and talked up the team's winning ways to, surprisingly, defense. Player after player commented on the importance of following through with the defensive mind set that George Karl has been preaching since the beginning of training camp. It was more than just a win at home on a Friday night. It was, after all, a win against the much maligned and hated New York Knicks, one of only three teams who have managed to get the better of the Nuggets this season. The Nuggets, while being the fortunate beneficiaries of playing teams coming off back to backs, still deserve a nice cheering of support. Yes it is true that during this win streak they have not had to play teams that should be considered elite NBA competition, but the fact is: The Nuggets are winning the games they should win. Last season there were far too many incidences when they failed to do so, giving many Nuggets fans reason to start believing. Maybe this team is ready, and already has begun to, turn that ever allusive corner. And, as many of the players mentioned in the post game show broadcast on KKFN AM 950, it all starts with defense. If the Nuggets can continue to use that newfound defensive professionalism, they should be well equipped to keep winning games.

Hey! Isiah Thomas, the Jerk Store Called, they're running out of you!!!

isiah thomasOf note, given the chance to explain his team's dismal performance, Knicks Head Coach (the Dearth of character that he is) emphasized that the loss was mostly attributed to the fatigue stemming from the double overtime loss in the previous evening's game. "The schedule beats you sometimes," smeared Thomas. Yes indeed that is true. But then is it not also true, that if you are willing to concede such a forfeiting sentiment, then maybe your just in need of an easy excuse to detour the blame away from your own ineptitude?
